1. Football's Past

Rugby football is the origin of American football. Rutgers University defeated Princeton University (score - 6) in the first big football game (score - 4). Their conflict began in 1869, four years after the Civil War ended.

  8. Teams are allowed to switch players as long as there are 11 men on the pitch.
  9. The action begins when the ball is snapped (quickly handed) to the Quarterback by his Center and continues until the ball is dead.

  11. Both teams can have three specialized squads, each with one or more positions for players.

To win, the Specialized Offense Team needs to score or gain yardage

The ball is handed to the Quarterback leader by his Center, who is also his second brain. The quarterback can either throw the ball to a receiver, hand it to a running back, or run the ball himself (brave!). 

Five Mack trucks make up the Offense Line. They have the ability to protect the passer, block, and leave tread marks on the backs of defence players. 

Running backs are responsible for carrying the ball, catching it, blocking it, and causing havoc on the field. Wide receivers catch the quarterback's swerving passes. 

These individuals have "superhero" speed, as well as the ability to block. Tight ends play two different roles. They can play wide receiver or offensive lineman, protecting the quarterback and blocking for the runners.

The Specialized Defense Team 


is responsible for preventing opponents from scoring or gaining yards. Three to six "huge giants" on the defensive line block the light, causing darkness and suffering along the line of scrimmage. Running backs are rolled over by linemen (dubbed "monster trucks"). 


The "sack" the quarterback in a crash test before he passes or hands off the ball. Linebackers are the stuff of nightmares. 

They can be found lurking behind the defensive line, rushing the quarterback, or covering receivers. Cover receivers and stop zooming throws with defensive backs with superman speed, plus rush quarterbacks!  


Extra points must be scored by the Specialized Special Team. Do you have a strange leg or foot, kid? To get those game-saving extra points, become a punter or placekicker. Long snappers, too, require pinpoint accuracy.





3. Levels of Competence of Players

Level of expertise There are 32 professional teams in the United States. There are American football leagues in 50 nations! Perhaps the German Football League (GFL) or the Japanese X-League will be interested in signing you. 

Sports agents and attorneys can assist you in negotiating large sums of money. If you can't make it to the professional ranks of football colouring, try the semi-professional leagues. Alternatively, you may work as a sports agent or a lawyer.
